Professor Dr. Ali El-Houni

Prof. Dr. Ali El-Houni was appointed pro-chancellor of the University of Gitwe in May 2025. With a distinguished career spanning over three decades in medicine, education, and international healthcare leadership, Prof. El-Houni brings a wealth of experience and vision to the University’s governance.
As Pro-Chancellor, Prof. El-Houni plays a ceremonial and ambassadorial role, presiding over convocation ceremonies and conferring degrees and diplomas in the absence of the Chancellor. He also represents the University at special events and actively promotes its mission, values, and reputation both locally and internationally.
Prof. El-Houni is a Professor of Medicine and a senior consultant endocrinologist with fellowships from the Royal College of Physicians in both the United Kingdom and Ireland. His academic and clinical leadership includes former appointments at Tawam Hospital/Johns Hopkins Medicine and current roles at Dubai Medical University and Burjeel Specialty Hospital.
